As a volunteer-run organization, Saugerties Youth Hockey relies on the time and effort of its coaches, managers, and board members. To address concerns and promote a positive experience for all, we've compiled a list of do's and don'ts.
By following these guidelines, we can work together to create a positive and supportive environment for all Saugerties Youth Hockey players and families.
General Guidelines
DO: Ask how you can help!
DO: Respectfully email concerns to coaches and board members.
REMEMBER: We are all volunteers.
we want to watch our kids enjoy hockey too!
DON'T: Complain in the lobby, yell at people, or accuse others of having bad intentions.
Concern-Specific Guidelines
Concern #1: Coaching and Team Management
DO: Sign up to coach or assist with coaching duties.
DO: Email the coach and team manager to arrange a meeting.
DON'T: Text the coach unless it's an emergency.
DON'T: Discuss concerns with other parents or children.
Concern #2: Playing Time
DO: Ask for clarity on playing time before the season starts.
DO: Email the coach and team manager to arrange a meeting.
DON'T: Approach the coach in the rink or within 24 hours of a game.
Concern #3: Scheduling
DO: Offer to help with scheduling!
Concern #4: Financial Management
DO: Volunteer to be Board Treasurer or Assistant to the Treasurer.
Concern #5: Program Growth and Development
DO: Join our grow the game committee and help recruit new players!
DON'T: Discuss leaving the program or invite others to join you.
